Surprises

When Liz over at LULULIZ had told me that she was planning to work on a glue book during her vacation in France, I sent her a package with some ephemera, which I thought she might like to use for this project as well as some other things to play with like trims, laces etc. She said that she would send out a package my way too but I had never expected such a surprise. Besides this lovely tag she had created and which now sits on my studio wall shelf,

Liz had sent me as well a fantastic antique jelly/pudding mold of her collection. We both have a thing for them and watch out on flea markets if we can find one. I couldn’t believe my eyes and wondered how she could actually part with it.  Isn’t she the sweetest to do something like that?

Thank you so much, dear Liz!!! I would have loved your package anyway but this gift made it so extra special :-).

Another wonderful gift came from Martina at Stempel-Gewerkel. I hadn’t expected anything but bills and advertisement in the mail that day and so I was very delighted to find a large padded envelope. Who doesn’t love such kind of mail?  Martina had sent me this beautiful collage on a canvas in lovely shades of pink, cream and beige. I’ve displayed this pretty creation in my studio.

Thank you very much, dear Martina! That was such a sweet surprise and made my day!

By The Sea

Every time we take a walk on our beach here, I think about my dear friend Dorthe over at Den Lille Lade. When the weather is gorgeous like today, we can see a tiny bit of Denmark and then Dorthe seems to be just a few miles away. If I would be a fish in a good physical shape, I could swim right over to her house on the Danish island of Bornholm. Well, I’m not a fish and we don’t want to get into my fitness level here, LOL, but that means a trip to Dorthe would involve a couple of hours drive by car and a 3 1/2 hour ferry ride. We haven’t managed to meet each other yet but maybe one day we will.

As Dorthe loves the beach very much, I thought I would make something with a sea theme for her birthday. I created a collage on the back of a canvas, using a lovely picture of two ladies that Dawn over at The Feathered Nest had provided a while ago.

I altered this tin for Dorthe to store some of her beach finds. The sea shell frame is a pretty graphic from Karen, the lovely Graphics Fairy.

Some weeks ago, when I had showed a pincushion I had made, Dorthe said that she likes the fabric I had used. Therefore I decided to sew a lavender pillow from the same fabric. I added a French label because the beach theme wouldn’t have worked too well with the rose print.

That was it for today. I’ll be back next week with some tags I’ve made and a lovely package I have received. I wish you a wonderful rest of the week and a happy weekend!

A Bottle, a Lavender Pillow and a Collage

When I started to create the birthday gifts for my dear friend Marie of Lost Bird Studio, I didn’t have to think long about the themes.  She loves everything French and so I soldered this bottle for her, added a French label and a fleur de lis charm.

The label I used for this lavender pillow is Belgian but the French language counts, right?

Another theme Marie loves is “birds” and so I came up with this fabric collage for her.

The beautiful label images as well as the pretty bird image were provided by The Graphics Fairy. Thank you, Karen for all the fantastic graphics you always have for us!

Next week I’ll be back to show you the gifts I had made for my dear friend Dorthe.

Have a wonderful weekend!
